Redbridge residents aged 40-75 years old are elligible for a free NHS health check. People in this age group are recommended to have one of these health checks at least once every 5 years.

This test takes a small finger-prick blood sample and provides a complete lipid profile (Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDLs and LDLs) and HbA1c reading (a 3 month blood sugar average which is used in the diagnosis of diabetes).

The test can be carried out quickly and you can either wait for your results on site (around 20 minutes) or arrange for a same day callback with your results.

These blood tests can be carried out on site from Monday - Friday from 9am - 5:30pm. These tests are performed on a walk-in basis and no appointment is necessary. 

If you are aged between 16 - 50 years old then you may be eligible to buy period delay tablets (Norethisterone 5mg tablets) over the counter without a prescription. 

Norethisterone 5mg tablets can be taken three times a day for up to 17 days in order to delay your period (e.g. for the purposes of a holiday). 

If you are eligible for these drugs then you can pay for and collect them in shop with little to no wait time.

The vast majority of women aged 16-50 years old are eligible to take Norethistone tablets. Exclusion criteria includes: Pregnancy, breast-feeding, endometriosis, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, certain cancers or a history of blood clots or clotting disorders (please note, this list is not exhaustive).

If you are travelling abroad, particularly to rural areas in developing countries, then there may be a malaria risk in that area. To protect against malaria, you can take a prophylactic daily dose of Atovaquone and Proguanil, known commercially as Malarone or Maloff tablets. These tablets can be bought at Wanstead Pharmacy without the need of a prescription.

After selecting your country, use the 'Malaria' option to find a malaria map for the region, if a malaria risk is present.
